Bringing your newborn into the world is an incredible journey filled with love, joy, and countless precious moments. And what better way to capture those fleeting early days than with a professional newborn photoshoot? If you’re considering booking a session, we’ve got you covered with everything you need to know to prepare for your shoot!
What to we wear? – First things first, let’s talk outfits! Keep it simple and comfortable for both you and your baby. Soft, neutral colors like white, creams and grays. Soft pastel pinks, blues and greens can also work beautifully, allowing the focus to remain on your little bundle of joy. And don’t worry about bringing outfits or wraps for your baby—we’ve got plenty of adorable options available in our studio.
When do I book my newborn shoot? – Timing is everything when it comes to newborn photography. Ideally, it’s best to schedule your shoot within the first two weeks after your baby’s arrival, when they’re still sleepy and easily posed. Be sure to reach out and book your session well in advance to secure your spot, as availability can fill up quickly. We recommend booking after your 20 week scan.
How long does a newborn shoot take? – A newborn photoshoot typically lasts around 2-3 hours, allowing plenty of time for feeding, comforting, and capturing those adorable sleepy poses. We understand that babies have their own schedule, so don’t worry about rushing through the session—we’ll take breaks as needed to ensure everyone stays happy and relaxed.
What should I bring along?
- Pacifier (if baby is using one): A pacifier can be helpful for soothing your baby during the shoot and assisting with posing.
- Additional milk for feeds: If your baby is bottle-fed, be sure to bring along extra milk to keep them content and comfortable throughout the session.
- Diapers and wipes: We recommend bringing along plenty of diapers and wipes to keep your baby clean and dry during breaks.
Is there anything else I need to know?
Parents can sometimes be shocked how warm the room is kept during the shoot. We keep the room warm at approximately 27 degrees celsius this is to help your baby feel relaxed and sleepy, especially when not fully dressed for the shoot. To avoid getting to hot and sweaty please dress in layers you can remove or bring something to change into after the family photo portion of the newborn shoot.
Finally, relax and enjoy the moment: Remember, this session is all about capturing the love and connection between you and your new addition, so relax, enjoy, and trust that we’ll create beautiful memories together.
We can’t wait to document this magical time in your family’s journey and create timeless images that you’ll cherish for a lifetime. If you have any questions or special requests, don’t hesitate to reach out—we’re here to make your newborn photoshoot experience as smooth and memorable as possible!
